• Close it gently: seal the tank hand-tight only. Forcing the threads distorts the seals and makes the parts harder to separate later.
• Let it stand: wait 5 to 10 minutes before the first draw so the cotton soaks right through. This one pause is what keeps a fresh coil from scorching and losing its taste on day one.

Setting the Power

• Start low: always begin at the bottom of the power range, then raise the wattage in small steps rather than jumping straight up.
• Follow the coil marking: the figure printed on the side of the coil is your ceiling. Climb towards it gradually and stop where the draw feels right to you.

Getting the Airflow Right

• Line up the vents: check that the airflow slots are properly open and not blocked by the ring being half turned.

Keeping the Flavour Clean

• Never run the tank down: top it up while there is still liquid in the chamber. A cotton wick drawn on dry spoils the taste and shortens the life of the coil.
• Space out your draws: leave a short gap between them so the wick has time to re-soak, especially at the upper end of the power range.
• Change the coil on flavour, not on the calendar: as soon as the taste starts to shift, the coil has done its work and a new one restores it.

Almost every fault on a vape device traces back to a short list of causes. Match the symptom below, confirm the cause, then take the action listed before you assume the device itself has failed.

Battery Faults

• Symptom: the cell gets very hot in the hand, or the charge drains far quicker than it used to. Cause: the cell has lost capacity through age or use. Action: retire it and fit a replacement rather than nursing it along.
• Symptom: the device fires weakly, or cuts in and out. Cause: e-liquid residue has built up on the contact points and is breaking the electrical connection. Action: wipe the contacts until they are clean and dry, then reassemble.

Liquid Escaping from the Device

• Symptom: liquid pooling at the base of the tank or seeping into the airflow slots. Cause: the coil is not seated firmly, or an O-ring has slipped, flattened or split. Action: strip the tank down, reseat the coil square in its housing and inspect every O-ring, replacing any that no longer sit proud.
• Symptom: the device seeps after being left somewhere warm. Cause: heat thins the liquid and pushes it past the seals. Action: keep the device out of hot spots such as a parked car or a sunny window ledge.

Burnt Taste

• Cause: the wattage is set above what the coil is rated to handle, or the wick is being starved because the liquid in the tank has run low. Action: bring the power back down a few steps and rest the device so the cotton can recover. If the harsh taste is still there afterwards, the coil is spent and only a new one will clear it.

Charging and Carrying Cells

• Use the original charger supplied with the device, or a like-for-like equivalent, instead of whatever cable happens to be nearby.
• Never carry loose cells with metal: keys, coins and other odds and ends in the same pocket or bag can bridge the terminals.
